Giants' tight end contemplates retirement after one season in New York

Waller acquired in a March 2023 trade

Darren Waller is nearing a decision on his future, with the New York Giants tight end expected to announce his retirement from the game ahead of next season, according to multiple reports.

Waller, 31, joined the Giants in a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders in March 2023. He had a solid season in New York, catching 55 passes for 615 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games.

However, Waller has been contemplating retirement throughout the offseason. He has not participated in any of the Giants' voluntary workouts and has been working out on his own in Arizona.

Waller's decision to retire would not be a surprise. He has been open about his struggles with mental health in the past, and he has said that he is considering retirement in order to focus on his family and his well-being.
